The Curry House Cookery Book uses Metric measurements and NOT American measures.
That means all solid ingredients are weighed in kilograms and liquids are measured in litres. There are no cup measurements, ounces or pints.
My plan is eventually to produce an American version of the book but, in the mean time, the Book contains a chart which converts Metric weights and measures into their American equivalents. Apart from the obvious inconvenience, the main problem with the chart is that it uses direct conversions. So you end up with rather imprecise measures such as "just under ½ cup".
I apologise for the inconvenience this will cause our American users. I was originally expecting to get the Book published in print (rather than self-publishing electronically as it has ended up being) and was relying on the publisher to get the Book converted for me. Little did I know! Now the task of converting the recipes into more user-friendly American measures is a major one indeed.

The cost of registration is charged in British Pounds and is 7.75
Your credit card company will convert the GBP 7.75 to $ at their prevailing exchange rate. Please contact your card company for details of their current exchange rates and any commission they may charge on conversion.
If you want an approximate equivalent in Dollars for 7.75 at current rates you can use:
the XE.com Universal Currency Converter
- enter 7.75 as the amount and convert "GBP" into "USD".
Obviously if you live in Australia, Canada, the Euro zone or wherever you will need to convert the GBP into your own currency.

| cooking terms |

George Bernard Shaw famously observed that "England and America are two countries divided by a common language". Never more so than in the world of cookery books (or should I say "cookbooks"?).
It has become clear to me in my travels around the Internet that the British and the Americans sometimes use different words for the same ingredient or piece of kitchen equipment. With that in mind I have included a small "dictionary" in the Book which translates cooking terms from British English into American English. I hope it is useful at least until I can write my American version of The Curry House Cookery Book.
